Who We Are

What is supportive housing?

Supportive housing is a proven, efficient way to help families get back on track. Alameda Point Collaborative (APC) is a supportive housing community, providing residents with housing, services and community programs to support our residents and families so that they need never know the struggles of homelessness again.

The APC Resident Community consists of a diverse range of ethnicities and age groups. Of 500 residents, 280 are children and youth.

The Resident Council conducts community outreach and education and participates in all levels of decision-making.

The Board of Directors includes Alameda business leaders, community leaders and prominent human services executives. The Board is diverse in income, ethnicity and gender.

APC Staff are diverse, energetic and skilled in their jobs. Many of our staff are local Alameda residents, and they bring with them a desire to make lasting improvements in their own community.

The Ploughshares Nursery Advisory Board is guiding APC on the development of a commercial native and organic plant nursery. In 2003, the Advisory Board assisted APC in the preparation of a business plan that was entered in a national competition sponsored by the Yale School of Management. The Ploughshares Nursery placed in the top 20 nationwide, out of more than 500 plans submitted.
