Help! During the storms of February, our homework help room got flooded, and the carpeting was destroyed. We would like to replace it with a durable, eco friendly flooring solution. If you can help, call Doug Biggs at (510)898-7849.
    Finding Home, Finding Hope

Providing safe, decent housing is the most important job we do at APC. With a home, comes hope. Hope to provide a safe place to raise and nurture children, hope to learn new job skills that will increase self reliance, hope to get the support needed to overcome homelessness forever.

APC is celebrating the connection between housing and hope with "Finding Home, Finding Hope" a special breakfast on April 24th. Attendees will learn more about APC's programs and hear directly from residents who have found hope.

The event is free of cost, but guests will be asked to consider making a donation to support APC's efforts. Seating is limited and by reservation only. If you would like to attend, call (510)898-7849 or email info@apcollaborative.org.

Ongoing items we are in need of include:

  • Diapers for newborns and toddlers;
  • Household cleaning supplies (environmentally sensitive cleaners only please);
  • Paper, pens and pencils for our homework help room;
  • A truck in good condition to haul donations and food grown in the garden;
  • Used bicycles in good condition.

For more information, please check out our donation page at http://www.apcollaborative.org/help.htm

    Spring Time is Bike Time!   APC in the News!!

Cycles of Change - APC Bike Project has reopened after winter hibernation, thanks to renewal of a grant by Stopwaste.org. Operating hours are Tuesday and Thursday from 2-6 pm and Saturday from 12-4 pm. The bike shop is seeking the donation of used bikes, and volunteers to help teach repair skills to youth.

The bike shop also has a great selection of quality used bikes in great condition. Help yourself, help the environment, and help APC by buying a bike today!

APC, Ploughshares Nursery and Growing Youth were recently showcased on Alameda Currents. You can view the episode online at: Alameda Currents

Ploughshares Nursery was featured in a recent edition of the Home and Garden section of the San Francisco Chronicle. You can read the article at: Sfgate.com

The Growing Youth Project has broken ground on a one acre urban farm that will eventually supply produce to APC residents and be available for purchase at the Farmer's Market. In February, the Project hosted a chili cook-off featuring family favorite and healthy chili recipes.

The tomatoes are here at Ploughshares Nursery! This Spring, Ploughshares will be selling more than 50 varieties of tomatoes, all grown locally, and well suited to local climate conditions. The Nursery is also offering a series of spring workshops, including a special kids activity day on May 24th. For more details please go to our website.
