We are excited to share the Cycles of Change APC Bike Shop's latest news with you! We've continued our successful community shop program where folks are welcome to use our tools for bike repair. We're excited to see people working together and teaching one another to solve bicycle mechanic problems.
We implemented a family ride program to encourage residents of Alameda Point Collaborative to ride more frequently. Some of the participants even earned their own bikes!
We are grateful to the volunteers have helped transform the space this fall. They have fixed bikes, organized the shop, created signs, designed our new logo, helped with strategic planning, developed a marketing plan and much more!

Family Ride Program
The family ride program that we created was extremely successful! Ten to fifteen people came out each week to ride during our four week family ride series. People learned the basics of riding safely in a patient, supportive environment.
The first week we went over basic bicycle safety, fit bicycles and helmets and went on a short ride. Successive trips were longer, and included a ride around Alameda Point, to the grocery store, and to the beach.
Participants noted that they feel much more comfortable riding bikes, and will use bicycles more frequently. Fran Green Parks said, "I had not ridden a bike in 27 to 30 years. Now I'll ride at least weekly." Return to top >>
